Lake Corbara

Lake Corbara is a large, artificial lake made when the Tevere River was dammed for hydroelectric purposes. The lake and surrounding areas are part of the Parco Fluviale del Tevere, which was recently nominated a protected nature area. Its jagged shores stretch into a deep yet narrow gorge that reaches almost to Todi (Forello Gorge). The impressive landscape is in harmony with various leisure activities that are practiced here including fishing and canoeing as well as white-water rafting near Prodo Gorge.
Parco dei Sette Frati
Under environmental protection, both areas have been equipped with picnic areas and leisure facilities as well as an area for outdoor performances. They are also equipped with small alpine refuges providing refreshments and meals as well as marked walking paths. The Sette Frati area, next to the Parco Fluviale del Tevere, extends for 25 hectares on the slopes of Mount Peglia at an elevation of 800 meters above sea level from which is it possible to enjoy a spectacular view of the Tevere valley including Lake Corbara and the Alviano Wildlife Oasis, as well as the Paglia Valley and Orvieto`s cliffs. From Mount Piatto the view extends from Todi to Perugia and Assisi, stretching to the Apennine ridges. The flora is largely made up of forest trees, predominately oak and rare flowers. The wild fauna is that typical of the area, which is to say, mostly deer and mouflon.
